The season is officially underway with several teams facing off in the first week of the season. It started with a bang as #1 MICDS hosted the #3 Sluh Jr. Bills. This one was never close as the rams pulled away towards the end of the first half to finish with a final score of 9-2. The rams carried that momentum onto another home game with the #12 Vianney Golden Griffins. This one got out of hand early as the rams pumped in 7 first quarter goals, and junior Alex "Beano" Bean went 100% at the faceoff dot thanks to some great wing play en route to a solid 19-1 win. After opening the season with a tough loss the Jr. Bills showed some grit in their 13-6 win at #6 CCP. With the rain pouring down and a swamp like atmosphere at Chaminade the Red Devils fought to a 4-3 halftime lead behind solid face off play and a pair of man up goals. However the second half would see the Jr. Bills rattle off 7 consecutive goals as junior middie Noah Hewlett didn't miss a his step in his first game back from a lower body injury. The Jr. Bills also lost fellow defenseman junior Anthony "Tuna" Sansone to a upper body injury. #2 DeSmet opened the season with a bang as they put up 13 goals and held the #10 Ladue Rams to 3. They suffered their first loss last night on the road to Indiana power Zionsville 12-7. The spartans are now en route to Ohio where they will play (scrimmage?) Archibishop Moeller at 3:45pm today before a face off with power house Worthington Kilbourne at 5pm tomorrow evening. Hope everyone has a great spring break.
