Game Notes:
Tonight we will be treated to the best lacrosse rivalry in the state. With both teams sitting at #1 and #2 respectively tonight will be a solid game under the lights at SLUH. Ever since SLUH's upset in the 2012 State title game this match up is circled on both teams calendars. The Jr. Bills will be without offensive leader Pat Durnien who suffered a broken collarbone vs Webster Groves. This could prove to be a big loss for SLUH as players like Hall, Flood, Howley, and Schenk will all need to chip in to fill the void left by Durnien. Also freshman Charlie Carse is having a phenomenal season but will need to kick it up another notch as he may get the #1 defensemen with Durnz out for the season. Defensively Anthony Sansone was a game time decision but will suit up and play this evening. The Jr. Bills have had trouble this year with their second slide and backside recovery. With as much off ball movement as Country Day uses this could be an issue if adjustments are not made. The two best goalies in the Midwest will be on the same field tonight with senior Jack Perryman in cage for the Jr. Bills and fellow senior Matt Trowbridge in cage for the Rams. Look for stellar play from both as they have had close to flawless seasons for their respective teams.
For Country Day they are coming in real hot after a big last second win over Indiana powerhouse Carmel. Led by sophomore attackman Alexander Feldman's 6 goal effort and some unreal saves from Trowbridge the Rams were able to stymie a strong comeback effort from Carmel. After moving back to midfield junior Harry Wellford has found his game and put in a strong effort vs Carmel. Look for the Rams to try and win individual match ups offensively and draw slides to initiate offensive on the backside for their play makers and shooters. Defensively the Rams are the best in the state with Burmeister and Fite locking things down in front of Trowbridge. The Achilles heal for Country Day this year has been their man-down defense. The Rams must stay out of the penalty box tonight. If they start taking penalties look for the Jr. Bills to capitalize.
SLUH has not beaten the Rams since their last state title in 2012 look for the Bills to come out hungry. If the Rams can handle the early barrage and the dust settles both teams will be in for a competitive game showcasing some of the states top scholar-athletes. Should be a good one
