For Country Day's seniors, today marks the final chapter of the chase of four state titles in four years. Led by a stalwart class of offensive talent the Rams will be looking to close out the dynasty. However Chaminade has scrapped and clawed to the title game, led by senior midfielder Michael McGovern the Red Devils will be looking to play spoiler this afternoon.
Chaminade is coming in hot off a huge upset win vs De Smet, in which sophmore Chis Handy dominated possession. McGovern capitalized on his chances and helped propel the Red Devils to the victory. However turnovers kept De Smet in the game. Chaminade must eliminate the unforced errors in order to stay in the hunt. Covington has to get on the score sheet early, and draw slides to open up McGovern's hammer of a step down shot. On the defensive side of the ball the Red Devils will need a huge effort from goalie Grfffin Jasin who was lights out in the semis vs the Spartans. Sophmore Nico Feldman will have to grind out every face off vs Denver commit Chris Handy.
MICDS has had a whirlwind of a week. With plenty of off-field distractions the Rams must dial it in to compete. Senior Harry Wellford will be a game time decision. If he cannot go fellow senior Gaines Bundy will have to pick up the slack. Little brother Graham Bundy Jr. Has had one hell of a year and the Rams will need his best effort this afternoon. .
This afternoons game should be a heavy-weight fight to the bell. With both teams scratching and clawing for the title, the fans should be in for a real treat.
My Call 16-10
