Notes: The 2015 MSLA Division 1 playoffs kick off with Friday evening triple header. First at MICDS the #1 ranked Rams host the #8 ranked Webster Groves Woodchucks. The two faced off April 30th and played to a 15-4 MICDS win. However in the playoffs anything can happen. Webster played a tough first half but depth became an issue as the game wore on. The Woodchucks are the most physical team in the playoffs and if they can set the tone early and stay out of the penalty box they will have a chance. Goalie Caleb Bolin will have to be on his A game and the defensive unit led by Shumate and Dunlap will need to have great communication to deal with the Rams off ball movement. Offensively look for junior John Binder to lead the charge he is third in Division 1 scoring with 73 points (45,28). However turnovers have been a major issue for the Woodchucks and they have got to value the ball in order to win. The Rams will most likely counter Binder with Delaware bound Jake Burmeister who has shown shutdown abilities in the regular season. Goalies O'Hara and Trowbridge will split time as the two have done all year. The low save totals for both keepers attributes to the Rams solid team defense which is one of the few teams in the state with "two slide." Scoring goals has been no problem for Codasco this year, however the format has changed. Last season it was an attack heavy group that paced the Rams. This year they look to the line of Bundy, Cella, Wellford to draw slides, initiate and find their finishers down low. Senior Will Cella is having one heck of a senior run and has shown the ability to generate his own shots off the dodge as well as the step down ability. Look for Bundy and Pflager to have big days as one of them will get the shorty which is a match up nightmare. Senior Mark Hoeman has emerged as the vocal leader and shown a knack for scoring goals as the regular season came to a close. The first meeting felt much closer than 15-4 and Coach Hope will have his boys fired up for the Friday night match up. Come out to Warson road and catch the first game of the 2015 Playoffs.
My Call: 15-5 MICDS
