Notes: Tonight's MSLA Division 1 Semi-Final will take us back to a longtime and storied rivalry from the now defunct MCC Conference .  The #2 ranked Jr. Bills and #6 ranked Cadets are ready for a bloodbath of a game. There is no love lost between these two and expect to see a physical gritty tone set from the first to last whistle. Both teams have shown solid mental toughness. The Cadets shook up the bracket by knocking off  the #3 De Smet Spartans 13-11. At one point CBC was down 4-1, however they would cut it down to 7-4 going into the locker room. Going into the final quarter of play the Spartans seemed to have a the game in control with a 3 goal 10-7 lead (a 3 goal lead is the worst in all of sports). The Cadets chipped away shift by shift en route to a 6 goal run and a huge win. The road to St. Charles was just as tough for the Jr. Bills who came out flat and found themselves down 5-1 early. The game may have stayed that way had Lafayette not gotten into foul trouble. The Lancers commited 5 fouls in the period and SLUH capitalized going 3/5. Going into the half Lafayette too found themselves up 6-3 with 36 seconds left in the period. Pat Flood got the first half hat trick on man up which was followed by a Pat Broughton face off win who found Jack Potter on the crease for a quick two goals that made it 6-5 and swung momentum SLUH's way. SLUH would take the lead 8-7 as senior Bo Chevalier got his first of the night with 8:27 in the third quarter, once they had the lead SLUH never trailed the rest of the game. One key point for tonight's match up will be the health of CBC's Parker Cordova (lower body) and Joe Redlingshafer (sickness) . Cordova played vs the Spartans and was a huge factor contributing a hat trick of his own. Junior net minder JP Saracino stood tall in his FIRST start making several key saves vs De Smet. If Red is healthy Coach Condon could have a tough decision as far as going with the hot hand vs what you have done all season. Lastly the face off game will be crucial.  Patrick Broughton has been solid all year for the Jr. Bills and has shown the ability to take over games. Don't tell that to Cadet sophmore John Michael Cody who did a great job in the second half neutralizing the Spartans and helping lead the Cadets to the big win.  CBC has toughness and grit on the wings that SLUH will have to match, and the 3v3 battle between the lines will be a dogfight worth the price of admission.  The Jr Bills held on to win the regular season match up of these two back on April 24  7-6.  Lindenwood is the best stadium to watch lacrosse in the midwest, the weather should be fine, and the lacrosse should be solid.

My Call
9-7 SLUH
