Game Notes:
A great season of Missouri lacrosse will come to an end this afternoon. If you follow the sport you should have seen this matchup coming from the jump. Easily the top two teams in the state will battle it out today. The last time these two met in the finals the Jr. Bills ruined the party with a 7-6 win. The U High will be trying to repeat history and win their second state title in 4 years. Country Day however will be having none of that as they are going for their third state title in a row. MICDS with 8 All-State players 2 All- Americans and a roster littered with D1 commits the stage is set for a David and Goliath style battle. In the first meeting this season it was 4-3 at half and saw MICDS hold off a comeback attempt for a 10-8 win. We will get to see the two best face-off men in the Midwest battle it out as Broughton and Bean will do their best to win possession for their teams. Having coached them both for the past three years it is only right that they face each other in their final high school game.
Country Day has been solid all year. With their only loss coming to their kryptonite MUS, the Rams dominated Chaminade in the semis in a game that was never close. The Rams jumped out to a 6-0 halftime lead and never looked back. If they can punch a few in early it will be all she wrote, as the play of Alex Bean and Matt Trowbridge make it incredibly difficult to come back on the Rams. Attackman Alexander Feldman was held scoreless in the last match so look for him to try and get his touches early and settle in. Harry Wellford will look to draw slides and swing it for the Rams as they have some very capable shooters on the back side with Pflager and the brothers Bundy. Look for the defense to press out and be on hands as they will try to force turnovers and strike in transition.
Coming off a dogfight 11-10 win in the semis vs rival DeSmet the Jr. Bills are battle tested and ready for the challenge. Senior netminder Jack Perryman played a solid game and will have to play his best as he faces an offense were everyone has a greenlight. MICDS has struggled with early slides and athletic defenses all year so loobk for the U High to go early and often. However their second slide was sketchy at best vs DeSmet and if they don't clean that up they will leave shooters wide open on the backside which is never the recipe for success vs Country Day. The Jr. Bills will need to spread the love on offense and get contributions from across the board. Freshman Charlie Carse played a great game vs DeSmet and will be looking to keep it rolling vs the Rams.
This afternoon we will be treated to a great game and we will get to see the best class in recent Missouri history write and end to a chapter that has been historic for Missouri lacrosse. Win or lose every senior on the field for both teams will be winners in the game of life. Here's to a great game. Tell a friend to bring a friend and lets pack the stands.

My Call:
